PEDICLE SCREW STIMULATOR The NEW Neurosign Disposable Pedicle Screw Probe from Magstim has a fully Teflon insulated shaft terminating in a 3mm ball tip, with integral handle and lead wire terminating with a touch proof connector. The Pedicle Screw Probe is ideal for testing pedicle integrity after creating the pilot hole for the pedicle screw, and will determine whether the pedicle is breached. MONOPOLAR PROBE This stimulating probe is intended for stimulating across the bulk of a tumor to determine whether a nerve is lying behind a structure, and is not designed for accurate and selective nerve stimulation. However, accuracy can be improved by inserting the ground electrode as close as possible to the surgical area, and by using the minimum current that will stimulate the nerve. A bend may be placed in the shaft of the probe for use under a microscope. Sold in boxes of 10 probes. Single use only.
CONCENTRIC PROBE This stimulating probe is the most accurate of the three disposable probes but has the least ability to stimulate through a layer of tissue. It is accurate to approximately 0.5mm. In order to stimulate through any tissue covering the nerve, the current must be increased. The probe is designed so that the shaft may have a single bend of up to 30° put in it by the surgeon if using a microscope. Sold in boxes of 10 probes. Single use only.
BIPOLAR PROBE This stimulating probe will stimulate through a small amount of tissue and yet remain accurate. Current is passed between the two probe tips, so the current is localized but will also flow through adjacent tissue. The further apart the two probe tips, the greater the current penetration and the less accurate the probe becomes. As with the Concentric Probe above, a bend may be put in the shaft of the probe. And as the probe is single-use, the Teflon coating is guaranteed to be perfect every time. Sold in boxes of 10 probes. Single use only.
